The Department of Civil Engineering is part of the Faculty of Engineering at Ndejje University. The Department is committed to excellence in education, research, and professional service while advancing the engineering science fundamentals of the Civil Engineering discipline.
The Civil Engineering profession is at a crossroads as it enters the 21st Century. The emphasis on massive infrastructure development, traditionally the major concern of Civil Engineering, has been partially replaced by an emphasis on infrastructure maintenance and revitalization. Societal concerns for sustainable development, energy conservation, and security have considerably expanded the role and functions of Civil Engineering. The rapid development of new materials and, particularly, computer and communication based technologies for planning, design, and management is expanding the range of alternative solutions that Civil Engineers can consider and is altering the way Civil Engineers practice. These changes affect Civil Engineering education and research; however, the common theme now, as in the past, remains the application of technology to meet society’s needs.

This department supervises the Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering [B.Eng (Civil)] degree programme.
