Admission Requirements

Direct Entry Scheme
A candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a first degree programme of the University if the candidate has obtained:
The Uganda Certificate of Education (O’ Level) or an equivalent qualification; and
At least Two Advanced level passes in approved subjects at the same sitting of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education Examination (A’ Level) or an equivalent qualification.

Mature Age Entry
Mature Age Entry Scheme is one of the three avenues of admission to Undergraduate programme to Makerere University.
For a candidate to qualify for entry to the University he/she must sit and pass the University Mature Entry Examination.
To be eligible for the Examination, the candidate must be at least 25 years old before the 1st August of the year in which admission is sought.
No candidate who had previously attended a programme at Makerere University shall be re-admitted to the University under this scheme to a programme of study in which he/she failed to qualify during his/her previous attendance.
The Mature Age Entry Scheme like other avenues of University entry is open to both Ugandans and Non-Ugandans.

When to Apply

Applications for the Undergraduate Programmes takes place once a year in the Months of June. While the Applications for Graduate programmes takes place in Early February every year

How to Apply

A call for applications is advertised in the print media and on the Makerere University website as well as the College websites. Details on the application fee, deadline for application and where to pick the application forms are indicated in the call for applications.

As soon as you see the call for applications, you are required to pay an application fee before picking the application forms from the Academic Registrar’s Office at Senate Building.
Application forms are issued out on presentation of the payment slip. After picking the forms, you’re required to fill them and attach all the required documents as stipulated in the call for applications.

Return the forms to the Academic Registrar’s department, where you are issued a number that you present at the time of picking the admission letter.

Note:
You are supposed to submit your application with all the required documents within the stipulated deadline.
