Lira University is a Public University established on the 8th day of July 2015 under Statutory Instruments 2015 No. 35 of 2015, and under section 22 (I) of the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act of 2001.

1. UNDERGRADUATE DIPLOMA SCHEME PROGRAMMES OFFERED AT LIRA UNIVERSITY UNDER GOVERNMENT SPONSORSHIP

1.1 DIPLOMA HOLDERS APPLYING FOR ADMISSION UNDER GOVERNMENT SPONSORSHIP

Bachelor of Science in Public Health

A Principal pass in Biology and in any one of the following subjects;
Chemistry, Agriculture, Geography, Mathematics, Food and Nutrition or
Physics obtained at the same sitting and Uganda Certificate of Education
(UCE) or its equivalent with at least passes in English and Mathematics.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

A Principal pass in Mathematics and in any one of the following subjects;
Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Technical
Drawing, Food and Nutrition or Agriculture obtained at the same sitting or
its equivalent.

Bachelor of Science in Community Psychology and Psychotherapy

Principal passes in any two of the ‘A’ Level Subjects obtained at the same
sitting or its equivalent.

2. UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES OFFERED AT LIRA UNIVERSITY UNDER PRIVATE SPONSORSHIP SCHEME

2.1 THOSE HOLDING UGANDA ADVANCED CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION APPLYING FOR ADMISSION UNDER PRIVATE SPONSORSHIP SCHEME

Bachelor of Science in Midwifery

Principal passes in Biology and Chemistry obtained at the same sitting and at least credit in English and Mathematics at ‘O’ Level.

Bachelor of Science in Public Health

A Principal pass in Biology and in any one of the following subjects;
Chemistry, Agriculture, Geography, Mathematics, Food and Nutrition or
Physics obtained at the same sitting and Uganda Certificate of Education
(UCE) or its equivalent with at least passes in English and Mathematics.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

A Principal pass in Mathematics and in any one of the following subjects;
Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Technical
Drawing, Food and Nutrition or Agriculture obtained at the same sitting or

Bachelor of Commerce

A Principal pass in Mathematics and/ or Economics and in one of the
following; Physics, Geography or Entrepreneurship obtained at the same
sitting or a Mature Age Certificate from a recognised Centre accredited by
NCHE or its equivalent

Bachelor of Business Administration

A Principal pass in Economics and /or Entrepreneurship and in one of the
following; Mathematics, Physics or Geography obtained at the same sitting
or a Mature Age Certificate from a recognised Centre accredited by NCHE
or its equivalent.

Bachelor of Public Administration

Principal passes in any two of the ‘A’ Level Subjects obtained at the same
sitting or its equivalent.

Bachelor of Science in Community Psychology and Psychotherapy

Principal passes in any two of the ‘A’ Level Subjects obtained at the same
sitting or its equivalent.

Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance

Two Principal passes in Economics or Entrepreneurship and either
Mathematics, Physics, Geography, or others at the same sitting of the
Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education Examinations (U.A.C.E) or its
equivalent or a Mature Age Certificate from a recognised Centre accredited

Bachelor of Computer Education

Two principal passes in Mathematics and Physics and either Economics,
Chemistry, Geography, or Entrepreneurship at the same sitting of the Uganda
Advanced Certificate of Education Examinations (U.A.C.E) or a Mature Age
Certificate from a recognized Centre accredited by NCHE or its equivalent.

2.2 DIPLOMA HOLDERS APPLYING FOR ADMISSION UNDER PRIVATE SPONSORSHIP SCHEME

Bachelor of Science in Midwifery

sitting or its equivalent.

Certificate from a recognized Centre accredited by NCHE or its equivalent.

1.HOW TO APPLY:

Application will be online using the AIMS System after getting a pay reference number using the AIMS system. However, applicants have to submit certified copies of their transcripts and certificates together with a passport size photograph to the Admissions Office in Public Health Block after payment of the application fees.

2. LIRA UNIVERSITY ONLINE APPLICATION PORTAL USER GUIDE:

1. Applicants will access the University’s Admission URL at;
http://admissions.lirauni.ac.ug
2. Sign up using your full name, e-mail and Mobile number. Make sure the
name is the same with that appearing on your academic documents for your
applications to be considered valid. If you had changed your name submit a
photo copy of the affidavit supporting the change to the Admissions Office in Public Health Block.
3. A pass word will be sent to your e-mail and mobile number you provided.
4. The system will prompt you to change the pass word to the one you can easily remember.
5. To fill our application form Click on the ‘APPLY NOW’ button displayed on the running scheme.
6. Obtain payment advice slip by clicking on ‘pay for’ form button

Note:
1. Advanced Level applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of 50,000/= but Bachelors’ Degree and Diploma Holders are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of 60,000/= for East African applicants and US $30 for International applicants plus a bank charge as specified by the respective banks.
2. Bachelors’ Degree and Diploma Holders must present certified copies of their Academic Transcripts/Certificates to the admissions office in Public Health Block.
