Kampala campus was the second of the IUIU Campuses to be set up. It was started in 2001 with Dr. Ahmed Kaweesa Sengendo as pioneer Director. The campus grew rapidly, mainly appealing to the Evening and Weekend working class students.

Today the campus boasts of nearly 3500 students and is the home of the prestigious Habib Medical School, one of the best in the country. The campus has also graduated a number of prominent personalities in corporate and political circles including the likes of Hon. Beatrice Anwar and a host of others.

The strategic direction of the campus may include focus on Medical and IT courses and gradual withdrawal from other courses in a specialization drive that is meant to reduce operational costs and enhance efficiency

Directors

Dr. Ahmed Kaweesa Sengendo was the first Rector, between 2001 and 2003. He was followed by Dr. Karim Ssessanga, who oversaw its most rapid expansion till 2012. Dr. Karim Ssessanga was succeeded by Dr. Adnan Ali Adikata, and from 2017 up to date the Campus is Directed by Dr. Matovu Musa and Dr Taha Kasule as the Deputy Director.
