The programme is designed to give experienced registered nurses an opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide holistic nursing care. The programme will enable the graduates to use the existing theories and research findings in the provision and promotion of health services, illness prevention and management of patients/clients in a variety of settings. It will further enable the graduates to develop and integrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills into the practice of nursing. The graduates will also be able to provide leadership at institutional and national levels influencing policies in both the public and private sectors.​

Academic Qualifications:

Uganda
 
Route A: EN-RN to Post-RN BScN
  • Form IV level of education with a minimum aggregate of Division III in the Ordinary Certificate of Education with a “Credit” grade in the following mandatory subjects: English and Biology/Biological Sciences and a “Pass” grade in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Certificate of Registration in General Nursing (RN) with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
  • At least two years of continuous experience in a clinical care setting as a Registered Nurse.
Route B: RN to Post-RN BScN
  • Form VI qualification with a Principal Pass in Biology/Biological Sciences in “A” Level.
  • Certificate of Registration in General Nursing (RN) with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
  • At least two years of continuous experience in a clinical care setting as a Registered Nurse.

Please contact your local campus to obtain the application form. Before submitting your application, you must ensure that you have complied with the instructions stipulated on the form. Applicant should provide:
  • 1 Completed and signed application for admission
  • 2 Certified copy of secondary school certificate
  • 3 Certified copy of Enrolled Nursing certificate
  • 4 Certified copy of Enrolled Nursing transcript
  • 5 Certified copies of certificate of enrolment/registration with applicable Nursing Council
  • 6 Letter of release/recommendation from current employer
  • 7 Two passport-sized photographs

Curriculum

In the first year, you will explore the biomedical sciences such as anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, microbiology and pathophysiology, before moving onto advanced concepts in medical surgical nursing.

You will have the opportunity to engage in critical analysis, improve your academic writing and investigate the connection between information technology and healthcare.

During the second year, the modules will give you exposure to the social determinants of health, reproductive health, child health, community health, and mental health and psychiatry. You will get an opportunity to engage in research and teaching and learning.

In the final half-year, you will focus on leadership and management skills, on the planning and decision making needed to deliver care effectively.

You can also take an elective course that can improve and change practice through an evidence-based project.

The programme is offered over two-and-a-half academic years consisting of a total of 130 weeks.

3 In Tanzania, the programme starts in October

    Do this bachelor’s meet the standard of requirements to practice in the United States????
    Because US looks to be strict with a 4 years bachelor’s course for one to qualify as a nurse in US.
